The Nvidia Gefore GTX 970 is the new generation of graphic cards from Nvidia and is the successor to the GTX 860. However the graphic card has mouth watering in specs for its price, it has it’s unusual flaws. Some say that it doesn’t allocate it’s 4gb vram efficiently and thus causes performance problems. With my personal experience, i agree with whats up on the internet and have noticed that around half a GB on the card is not utilised.
The GeForce GTX 970 is based on the company’s new GM204 GPU which is the same as the company’s flagship GTX 980.
The main difference is that the 970 is configured with fewer active SMMs, a slightly lower clock speed, and a lower TDP, GTX 970 fills the gap by providing a lower performance but much lower priced alternative to the flagship GTX 980.In fact at $329 it’s some 40% cheaper than GTX 980, one of the largest discounts for a second-tier GeForce card in recent memory.
According to me, these diffences are acceptable considering a $220 drop for it. I havent got a chance to experience a 980 but according to my analysis, it’s already soaring charts and leaving others behind.

According to the results and my analysis, i can surely say that the gtx 970 surely struggles under load. The flagship Radeon R9 290X delivers performance similar to the GTX 970 in most cases, includes 4GB to 8GB of memory with a wider 512-bit memory bus (as opposed to the GTX 970’s 256-bit bus), and can often be found for less than the $330 and up Nvidia card—and sometimes far less if you can find juicy rebates. That makes the Radeon better suited for situations that require more memory—again, very high resolutions and/or cranked anti-aliasing settings—but AMD’s cards are far less energy efficient than Nvidia’s. Decisions, decisions.
